Pink and Blue
One of my favorite things is when I find a sport coat in the thrift store and it has a pocket square already stuffed in the pocket. It’s like a two for one. That’s how I got this pale pink linen hanky, and it even has some beautifully hand rolled edges. It didn’t come with this particular jacket, but the two look pretty good together on a hot day.
I don’t generally shop in department stores, and so am not on top of the current Polo Ralph Lauren offerings, but these are PRL Custom Fit chinos, and I quite like them. They’re very solidly constructed, and feature a nice medium weight cotton fabric. I imagine if the Custom Fit line of slimmer fitting pique polos and other shirtings is still widely available, then these pants might be as well. Definitely worth checking next time you find yourself in the Polo section of a store. I picked these up at one of the discount retailers though, either a T.J. Maxx or a Marshall’s, but I’m leaning towards the latter.
I accidentally missed a belt loop (good eye maxminimus). I guess that’s some authentic and unforced sprezzatura, or something.
In Praise of the Uniqlo OCBD…
I’m a big fan of the Uniqlo OCBD. It doesn’t have a great collar roll, and the collar leaves could stand to be a bit longer. But it’s solidly constructed, fits slim without being tight, and is priced to sell at $30 (sometimes 2 for $40 on sale). It’s also long enough to tuck in for a dressier look, but short enough to not look too long when worn untucked. I encourage you to get thee some if the chance presents itself. If nothing else, it’s an amazing casual shirt for putzing around in.
