Who Will Win the Ongoing Mosiery Feud?: Italy vs. England
I picked up a couple of pairs of Pantherella merino wool fair isle patterned socks over the weekend on a deep discount ($9 each) at Nordstrom Rack. I’m gonna put them to the test against these Marcoliani merino dotted socks I recently received courtesy of Jim Ockert over at Khaki’s of Carmel. Check back some time in the future for the results (which will include an artfully rendered photo of some worn socks) of what is an admittedly ridiculous, and ultimately inconsequential, manty hose matchup. The stakes of a cashmere sock matchup would, of course, be much higher and of incalculably greater import.

Grampin’ it up now that I’m in my mid-30s
I picked up these Nordstrom-branded Italian-made woven tasseled loafers at Nordstrom Rack yesterday on an 85% discount, aka $35. They look very Palm Beach Gramps to me…but I thought I’d give them a try anyway. No better way to complete the ‘octogenarian on a hot summer day’ look I’m going for than by donning some plaid madras pants.
I’m off to go drink mint juleps and yell at some kids.
