Shoes: Florsheim Royal Imperial Longwings, thrifted $13
Picked up a bunch of shoe trees at the thrift shop today, including two pairs of vintage Florsheim ones. For my vintage Florsheims. $1.50/pair.
By the way, I’m not sure this gets mentioned enough, but thrift shops are a great place to get shoe trees. If they’re cedar, and old and lacking fragrance, just give them a mild sanding and they’ll be as good as new.

Cold, cold, cold…Thought I was back in Michigan this morning, had to scrape ice off my windshield!
Shoes: Florsheim Royal Imperial Longwings
Pants: Levi’s 511 Corduroys, levis.com $30
Jacket: Gloverall Duffle Coat, STP $85. Bought this at the end of the winter several years ago, it was on deep clearance, and I had an addt’l 30% off coupon code or something like that. STP almost always has Gloverall duffle and pea coats in stock, and they range anywhere in price from $85 (the lowest I’ve been able to make it in years of trying) and $250 or so.
Today’s kit.
Sweater: Daniel Bishop, circa 2004, shawl collar and elbow patches, TJ Maxx $19
Shirt: Ralph Lauren OCBD, thrifted $2.50
Jeans: Pure Blue Japan XX-005, tapered to an 8” opening
Tie: Brooks Brothers, greyhounds, thrifted $2.50
Shoes: Florsheim Royal Imperial Longwings, thrifted (w/ shoe trees)
Cords: Volcom, TJ Maxx $16
Socks: New Old Stock English Made wool argyle over the calf, thrifted, .50, I found 5 pairs. It was a winter sockwear thrifting coup. FYI, I personally consider it a bad idea to buy used thrifted socks, but NOS is another thing altogether.
Wheels: Florsheim Royal Imperial Shell Cordovan Longwings, $17. My friend originally bought these on ebay for $90. They were too small for him. He gave them to me with these words of wisdom and kindness: “Young comrade, I know you will one day find a pair of shell longwings whilst thrifting, and they will be my size. When that day inevitably descends upon you, give them to me, and we will be squared away…” Needless to say, a couple of weeks later I found him some for $17.
