I am apparently now a #menswear editor

Hmm…So I just noticed a new icon on my dashboard; a star appeared next to the ‘like’ heart and ‘reblog’ arrows. Having just recently read the tag editors’ guidelines in the wake of my jeremiad the other day, this button looked strikingly similar to the one one clicks to promote a post on an officially sanctioned tumblr tag.

Intrigued, I checked the #menswear list of editors, and I was indeed now on there myself. Next, I checked the email account I set up for this tumblr account (this is a rare occurrence) to see if there were any emails about this new development, and to my surprise, it was in fact true—I had received an email earlier today welcoming me to the list of #menswear editors.

To be honest, especially after having read all kinds of accounts (true or apocryphal, who am I to know??) of the putative #menswear illuminati, I was a bit surprised at the amazing lack of fanfare around becoming an editor. Not even an email asking if it was something I’d be interested in doing…

In any case, though I certainly was not angling for an editorship when I wrote the lament, and am not sure I want to take on the extra work of trying to bring new content to the tag (since I am, fundamentally, a kind of lazy person), I figure I ought to put my money where my mouth is and solicit suggestions for some great new menswear tumblrs to follow in an effort to try and diversify the content a bit on the #menswear tag.

My tastes, as I’m sure many of you know, run more towards the traditional and tailored, but with little bits of playful insouciance tossed in for good measure—one pattern too many, a little extra color, a ladies’ scarf as a pocket square, a weird-ass sock, etc. Also, I of course love tumblrs that promote affordable style for the everyman or everywoman who likes to dress in traditional tailored men’s clothing. Original content is key, thoughtful writing a bonus, and nice photography a plus. Please feel free to send me a message with a link to your tumblr, or that of someone you follow, that you think fits the bill and I promise to check it out.
