Bold plaids at J Lawrence Khaki’s of Carmel.
I went on a day trip down to Carmel yesterday with Gus of abitofcolor tumblr fame, and had a great time. The stock is mind-boggling and vast, and is the masterwork of the store’s owner, Jim Ockert, who travels wide and far to bring some of the world’s most amazing menswear items under one roof (CP, Allegri, Montedoro, Luciano Barbera, Incotex, Samuelsohn, Brioni, Wolverine 1000 Mile, Eastland, John Barbour, Edward Green…you get the idea). This is truly a destination menswear store. I’ll be writing some posts over the coming weeks profiling Jim and reviewing some of the Made in the USA house-label clothes.
In the meantime, however, if you’re in or even within an hour of Carmel, Khaki’s is definitely worth a visit. Also, they’ll be launching ecommerce very soon…
