kellerwhale asked: hey! huge fan of your WIWTs and content. you've definitely sold me on the dockers alpha khakis. I was wondering how sizing on the waist/inseam work - the increments allow pretty precise sizing and i was hoping to avoid buying 3-4 different combinations and returning the ones that don't fit in order to get by vanity sizing. this might sound picky but i've had a weird experience before with sizing - for instance, i've got a 31" waist but used to wear a 28 waist in jcrew - ridiculous. thanks!

Hey kellerwhale, Thanks for the kind words about the tumblr, they’re much appreciated. Hmmm…good question. Nailing down one’s sizing can definitely be a mixed bag these days, what with different brands’ vanity sizing…I would say that Dockers Alpha Khakis fit pretty true to size, BUT I have found that for almost all brands  I have to size up in khakis from my jeans size. For instance, I wear size 34 in most jeans, including J. Crew (but in APC sizing, I wear a 32, which is ridiculous, because I most definitely am not a 32…), but wear a 36 in J. Crew khakis. I have found that size 36 Dockers fit similarly in the waist to a pair of size 36 J. Crew khakis. So, if the size 28 J. Crews you’re talking about were pants (and not jeans), then I’d say go with a 28 for the Dockers, but if they were jeans, then I might give a 30 a go…Hope this helps!
