Went to the A’s game today. They didn’t win, but I covered the essentials: Beer and nachos.
Though I’m no huge sports fan, I do know a lot about the 1987-1989 A’s rosters from my brief period of trying to like the game when I was around 10. My friends who do like the game (and still love the A’s) get a kick out of me just talking in the present as though guys like Carney Lansford, Terry Steinbach, Walt Weiss, Luis Polonia, Rickey Henderson, Dave Stewart, and others on that World Series-winning roster still play…I mean back-to-back-to-back rookies of the year!? The Bash Brothers? Come on, who wouldn’t have loved baseball in their hometown then?
